For some time now, there has been a strategy for integrating elements from the world of games into the teaching and learning process, aimed at improving students' academic performance and motivation. This qualitative research seeks to explore the perceptions of a group of 10 novice mathematics teachers from educational institutions in the province of Concepcion, Chile, regarding gamification strategies and techniques. The data collection method used was semi structured interviews, which yielded categories that determined the working methodology and knowledge about gamification, a term that was relatively unfamiliar to the participants. It is concluded that while this methodology alone is not capable of solving the problem, it does its solution.
