The first zoeal stage of Pagurus perlatus is described and illustrated. The larvae were obtained from ovigerous females captured in Coquimbo, Chile. The first zoea of P. perlatus is characterized by the shape and telson processes, as well as the presence of posterolateral spines on the last abdominal somite. We discuss and compare the main morphological characteristics of the first larval stage of P. perlatus with P. edwardsi and other species of the genus.
