Based on recent research which calls into question the idea that literature did not exist in the Anglophone Caribbean before the 1950's "boom generation", this article contributes to the recovery and dissemination of first half of the 20th Century Anglophone Caribbean writers. It presents a panoramic revision of the Anglophone Caribbean's literary production between 1900 and 1950, focusing specifically on the development of Jamaica's literary field during the first two decades of the century, the rise of Caribbean little magazines in the 30s and 4os, and the importance of emigration to the metropolis for writers from these generations.
