The article aims to analyze critically the role played by the trade union movement in the struggle for the recovery of democracy. We hold that trade unionism was one of the main references of the opposition, developing an active work that reflected important degrees of diversity and dynamism that question approaches of the social sciences, which account for a situation of crisis and passivity of the trade union movement during the Pinochet regime.
