Parametric pulses were implemented for pulse shaping in order to reduce peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) in the interleaved mode of the single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-IFDMA) scheme. The selection of the suitable pulse for PAPR reduction was based on its decay rate, which has a large impact on the relative magnitudes of the two largest sidelobes of the impulse response. These two sidelobes have a big impact on PAPR. We analytically derived the time and frequency domain expressions of the parametric linear and exponential pulses (for n=1), and then, the results were verified by using Scanlan's observations. Simulation results showed that the parametric pulses, for n=1, have lower PAPR compared to that of the raised cosine (RC) pulse, which is widely used in wireless communications.
