The aim of this research was to determine if the application of foliar nutrient program can increase fruit yields and quality characteristic of a 'Chilean Barcelona' hazelnut orchard of seven years old. This study was carried out (2010-2011) on a volcanic origin soil (Andisol) in the Gorbea area, province of Cautin, Araucania region, southern Chile. A randomized complete block experimental design was employed with four replications of 10 trees per treatments with planting distances between row of 5x4 m (500 plants/ha). The overall research plot size for the experiments was 0,8 ha. Nine diverse foliar fertilizer products alone or mixes were pulverized in October, November, December and January. Foliar applications were accomplished using a Sprayer Stihl mod using 200 L of water per hectare. The treatment were: 1) N 3%, P2O5 1%, K2O 1% p/p; 2) Zn 7% p/p; 3) n 4.5%, B 3,3%; 4) N 8%, P2O5 27%, K2O 4%; 5) N 10%, P2O5 10%, K2O 10%, Zn 0.05%, Mg 0.05%, B 0.002%, Cu 0.05%, Fe 0.1%, Mn 0.05%, Mo 0.005%; 6) N 8%, P2O5 27%, K2O 4%+ Mg 4%; 7) N 8%, P2O5 27%, K2O 24%; 8) N 8%, P2O5 27%, K2O 4% + Zn 7%; 9) N 8%, P2O5 27%, K2O 4%, + Ca 10%; and 10) an untreated check plot. As a result of this study, it was determined that there were important differences between the treatments in yield, nut weighs, and kernel weighs. There were significant differences in foliar applications (T:5, T:9, and T:4) as compared to the untreated control.
