The article shows the mythical connection among poetry, design and company involved in the stay in Chile of Catalan architect German Rodriguez Arias, amidst an exile and reinvention environment in a new territory since 1939. His friendship with Pablo Neruda provides uniqueness to the furniture design developed during the forties in our country. Rodriguez Arias, predecessor of the design in Chile embodies a special sensitivity in the designs to establish links with his origin and the host site, as well as, a special interest for shapes and materials which have cultural stamp based on simplicity and functionality concepts. Armchair "Isla Negra" and Chair "Catalana", the latter marketed by Muebles Sur Company founded in 7944 by Christian and Claudio Aguade Tarrago.
