In the last decades, the philosophical reflections of Hannah Arendt have had a profound influence on sociology, political philosophy, political science and political theory. However, a restrictive component which has not been considered in addressing these influences has been identified. Consequently, our purpose is to demonstrate that the connotation assigned by Arendt to politics is restrictive and, as a result, different from the economic activity and the social world, situation which leaves political activity without material content and, at the same time, demands its relocalization in the discursive field and human judgment, over practical action. To meet this goal, some of the major works of Arendt will be reviewed and contrasted with some ideas of the classical, modern and contemporary political philosophy. The results of this analytical review confirm that Arendt's attempt to distinguish the political from the social is relocated in an abstraction devoid of materiality, in a non-place and outside the specific collaborative practice.
