The Chilean Painter Generation known as 1913 or of the Centenary is the first generational group that appears in the Chilean Painting, with a piece of art that gathers those social topics, that belonged to the social landscape where most of the members came from. The background where the history is written is marked, among other considerations, by the trace of a country socially disintegrated by the aesthetic debates of the School of Fine Arts, by the fervors of the Centenary and by the presence of the Galician painter Fernando Alvarez de Sotomayor, who tried to lead the interest to the Spanish Art.
