The "Mapuche conflict" it is a fundamental problem for most municipalities of the Araucania region, in the south of Chile. Most of the complexities of this social conflict relies on the inadequate communication between stakeholders, ending in disruptive political agenda rather than in a technical issue. This article explores one specific case, the Temuco airport project, to describe and analyze how the lack of communication between stakeholders can become a major problem in an already complex situation, pointing out the importance of deliberation mechanism in the whole cycle of public policy.
