This article includes a descriptive analysis of the learning styles of first to fourth-year students in the Midwifery and Infant Care Program at the Universidad de La Frontera (Chile) in 2013. The self-administered Honey-Alonso questionnaire was applied to the participants. The sample included 156 students, or 96% of the study population. The demographic variables were gender, course and age. The programs STATA 14.0 and Excel were used for the analysis. The results showed the preferred style was theoretical, followed closely by the active and pragmatic styles. The reflective style stood out for low and very low preferences. Therefore, reinforcement is suggested with implementable learning strategies such as written work at all levels, progress reports, discussion forums, formative assessments via platform with sentence completion and twin terms, and the use of keyboards in class with agree/disagree questions.
