In this essay we try to retrieve the recurrent similitude between the Middle Ages and certain aspects of the contemporary world. Far from re-issuing a past historical period that entails a civilization in itself, we suggest, based on authors from the fields of Philosophy, Semiotics and Internationalism, the rise of political neo-medievalism, specifically overlapping political structures that are not exclusively state-run. We conclude that the post-cold war system's transitional nature reinforces the comparison with its Middle-Ages founding counterpart.
