Work carried out in the risk by facilitating the occurrence of occupational accidents that affect the physical, mental and social integrity of employees as the productivity of enterprises. For this reason, the purpose of this article is to analyze the causes and consequences of work-related accidents occurred during the second half of the year 2012 in two projects of construction of Neiva. The scope was documentary as a source of information where as stands of work related accidents reported to the administrator of occupational risk (ARL); to determine the causes which gave rise to such accidents the Frank E. Bird model was used. Analyzed 117 accidents in which identified 195 failures of control, 136 personal factors, 112 factors work, 151 unsafe acts and unsafe conditions 54; this taking into account that in some accidents arose more than one cause. Thus, it is concluded that the highest percentage of accidents at work, has been generated by lack of control followed by unsafe acts. For this reason the realization of programs of risk management priorities, based on a proper identification of dangers, which mitigates and control risks, at the same time developing a culture of self care in workers is recommended.
