This paper studies the complexity of the concept of innovation in the Chilean context of Science and Technology. The concept is confronted from the speeches and representations on innovation arising from the biographies of the Chilean doctoral students in natural sciences and engineering. Analytically, the article focuses on a qualitative methodology, using the biographical method as a source of data and processes of individuation and epistemological framework for the analysis of the stories. The results are represented in four strains.
