| Large projects require many inputs. We relied on the generosity and collegiality of those we work with at the Universidad Catolica in the shaping of this work as well as comments from participates at seminars we held at the International Studies Association meetings and the Midwestern Political Science Association meetings. Importantly, this research was developed with the support of several research funds. Cassandra M. Sweet thanks the FONDECYT Iniciación financing provided by Chile’s CONICYT program for her research project, N. 11140501 “The Political Economy of Innovation, Intellectual Property and Human Development in Latin America.” She also acknowledges the financial support of the Economics History and Cliometrics lab project in which she is an associate, funded by the CONICYT Programa de Investigación Asociativa through project SOC1102. Finally, both authors raise their proverbial researcher hats to the Millennium Scientific Initiative of the Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism of Chile, for the support of the project through the research activities of the Núcleo Milenio para el Estudio de la Estatalidad en America Latina, award number, RS130002. Any errors in this manuscript are entirely the responsibility of the authors. |
