This short reflection, which serves as preface to the 49 edition of the Catholic of the North Virtual Journal, is conceived based on counseling as a strategy of pedagogical mediation that allows improving the links between teachers and students and encouraging the teaching-learning processes. In this sense, the counseling and closeness are tackled based on the perspective of complexity and uncertainty. Counseling must be associated as a humanizing action and of acknowledgement of the students which encourages them to learn from its own nature and essence, the desire for discovering. Counseling involves a pedagogical intention that enriches the teaching-learning processes. We conclude that counseling and closeness constitute themselves into mediations that help to make easier the teaching-learning process.
