From an anthropological perspective, the article develops a theoretical debate on migration, identities, borders and gender, pointing out how the construction of a conceptual link between these categories makes it possible to overcome the clashes between the transnational perspective of migrations, and the arguments regarding the flows of people, knowledge and goods in transborder territories. We will start by developing a synthesis of the most structuring debates of the transnational perspective of migrations, and discussing the analytical categories that will be resized throughout the text. We will then provide an overview regarding the concept of identities in transnational and globalized contexts, discussing how the borders has been theorized, since the 90s, in anthropology. We will also address the main axes of discussion around the relationship between migration and gender in social sciences, to finalize the text discussing the link between patriarchy, gender and border areas.
