This article relates three concepts of contemporary philosophy that aim to clear away the field to formulate a problematic concept due to its habitual semantics, namely, civil servant. Each concept in this trilogy has a reference author: Animal Laborans by Hannah Arendt, Biopolitics by Michel Foucault, and Immunization by Roberto Esposito. A general presentation of such concepts is done followed by the explanation of how they are articulated so as to make a plausible semantic specificity of the concept of civil servant. In turn, a brief discussion is presented regarding John Locke's statement on freedom as a contemporary paradigm for understanding by showing how it is based on the concepts previously mentioned.
