This article is a reflection about the mediated communication processes that occur among different cultures looking for understanding these processes from an intercultural perspective, since the media, from their globalizing processes and a Western world-view, have become one of the main agents in the social construction of reality. Theoretical grounds on the way a piece of news is spread when it has an institutional burden - from the State, which defends the identity of the Western culture-coming from the construction of an essential Westernalised cultural identity are discussed. A de-Westernalised intercultural journalism that would allow for the creation and teaching of ways to understand published news on "cultural difference" from a dialogical and heterogeneous point of view is presented.
