This paper portrays the results of a Fondecyt project (Salcedo, Ferreira, Del Valle & Cerda, 2014) in which the lexicon of a sample of 233 students of Pedagogy in Mathematics from two universities in the region of Bio-Bio, Chile was analyzed, considering five centers of interest specific to the discipline. This study presents a descriptive analysis of univariate and multivariate techniques, index calculation, and ANOVA/Kruskal-Wallis tests to compare both groups. The analysis identifies deficiencies in the lexicon and its semantic structures which prevent optimal advance in the development of significant learning. This constitutes the initial point for making educational decisions in a learning context.
