This paper deals with Suarez's doctrine of natural law. Contemporary scholars often refer to Suarez as responsible of a turning to a physicalist understanding of right, where practical reason is confined to discover the group of commands that natural inclinations imply. Against that interpretation, this paper intends to show that Suarez sustains a practical and rational understanding of natural law in consonance with the Medieval and Thomist tradition.
