The article presents an analysis of the representations of the ocean / ship in shaping the imagination of literary texts black African Portuguese and Spanish language in Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa binarism. This from symbolic constructions that go beyond strictly literary and intersect with historical and cultural spaces that make the report (s) and imaginary (s) of this collective group. In response to other features, references to studies on memory and orality, which allow us to understand how symbolic building sea/boat made configurations within the stories about ocean experiences are included.
