Introduction: This study explores the relationship between self-perception of leadership and emotional skills in Physical Education Pedagogy students in Chile. Objectives: a) To determine the psychometric properties of the Student Leadership Practices Inventory (S-LPI) in Physical Education students. b) To relate leadership types to emotional ability in students of the Physical Education Pedagogy program in Chile. Methodology: The study follows a quantitative, correlational approach with a non-experimental design. The sample consisted of 359 students from five universities, utilizing the Student Leadership Practices Inventory (S-LPI) and the Trait Meta-Mood Scale (TMMS-19). Results: Correlations were found in all dimensions, showing relationships between the variables, with values ranging from r = .163 to r = .473. Discussion: It is highlighted that students in advanced years demonstrate greater leadership competencies compared to first-year students. Differences in emotional clarity were also observed according to sex, with women showing higher clarity, consistent with previous research on the same population. Conclusions: This analysis contributes to understanding how leadership development and emotional ability can influence pedagogical training in the field of Physical Education.
