Abstract

The "One Academic - One Paper" (1A1P) program, launched at a private university in Latin America, is a professional development initiative designed to enhance faculty research skills in engineering education. By pairing novice faculty with experienced researchers, the program provides mentorship throughout the research process, from question formulation to publication. This four-year study evaluates the program's effectiveness by analyzing conference papers indexed in Scopus to identify trends and research topics. The results show a significant increase in faculty engagement and a positive shift in participation willingness. While retention was initially a challenge, the program now enjoys consistent involvement, with a growing number of faculty members actively seeking participation. 41 conference papers have been published, addressing diverse topics such as gender perspectives in engineering education, educational management, active learning, and technology-enhanced teaching. The 1A1P program has substantially strengthened faculty research capabilities, fostering a culture of academic excellence and collaboration. As the program continues to evolve, it aims to expand its impact, ensuring sustained contributions to engineering education research and the ongoing professional development of faculty and the School of Engineering.
