Diastoleus alveolaris sp. nov. is described from coastal Atacama Desert based on morphological and genetic evidence. All evidence suggests that this new taxon is closer to D. costalenis, Silvestro, 2019 and belongs to the northern clade of Diastoleus Solier, 1838. Additionally, last instar larva is described for the first time for Diastoleus. Habitat preferences and biological observations are provided to enhance the description.
