Objective: To know the perspective of higher education teachers on the incorporation of participatory strategies to promote the learning and development of competencies on dose calculation in Higher Level Nursing Technician students in a Professional Institute in Chile. Method: sequential exploratory design, planned and implemented during 2023 and 2024. Information on learning and competencies for dose calculation, and perception of the academic body, was collected through evaluations and surveys/interviews respectively, allowing construction, dissemination and validation of a guide document addressed to the teacher. Results: Mathematical skills, interpretation of instructions, analysis and resolution of cases based on real problems, among others, represent greater difficulty for students; Participatory methodologies constitute the ideal strategic approach for teaching, whose teaching perspective is favorable according to surveys, however, there are reluctance and fears. Conclusions: Although a positive trend and favorable satisfaction is observed towards the incorporation of active-participatory strategies and implementation of teaching support material, the apprehensions expressed could hinder their adoption, requiring intervention to instruct and motivate the teaching staff about their benefits and application.
