Introduction: The pandemic affected people’s quality of life and health, particularly older adults, who found themselves isolated due to quarantine that prevented their mobilization and socialization with other people. Objective: To determine the association between anxiety and social loneliness in older people in a community of older adults in Santiago, Chile. Methodology: Quantitative, correlational, and cross-sectional study; convenience sampling was carried out on 30 older adults from a community in Santiago, Chile, through the Este II Scale of Social Loneliness and Beck’s Anxiety Inventory. Results: 17.4% of the sample presented a medium level of social loneliness, and 30.4% of the sample presented moderate-to-severe anxiety. The association between social loneliness and anxiety obtained Spearman’s Rho: 0.41 (p = 0.04). Conclusion: The pandemic affected mental health in older adults regarding their perception of social loneliness and anxiety, so it is necessary to continue studying the phenomenon to address it promptly.
