For Cioran, deep boredom was a fundamental experience that marked his life and work. This article examines the relationship between deep boredom, the Cioranian fall into time and the lucid revelation of universal meaninglessness. To begin the itinerary of this exploration, we start by succinctly contextualizing Cioran’s style and obsessions. Secondly, the perception and awareness of time will be contrasted between individuals integrated in it and those who have fallen below it, to a negative eternity. Thirdly, we will analyze the experience of deep boredom to which the fallen of time end up, in this existential stagnation the meaninglessness is lucidly revealed. Finally, emphasis will be placed on Cioran’s positive assessment of boredom, recognizing its benefits as an instance of maximum disillusionment that serves as a preamble to scriptural creation in order to denounce its revelations.
