Objective: To describe and characterize the scientific articles that address the ethics of research in the Web of Science (WoS) database. Design/Methodology/Approach: The bibliometric analysis methodology was applied, a search was carried out in WoS with the descriptors "research ethics". After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 2303 articles remained for the bibliometric analysis. Biblioshiny by Blbiometrix, SciMat, VOSviewer was used for the analysis. Annual production, journals, main authors, countries, main articles and keywords were analyzed. A scientific mapping was also established on the keywords and thematic areas developed. Results/Discussion: The findings of this analysis show that in recent years the intellectual production on research ethics has increased, this being a topic of greater interest for the Anglo-Saxon world, since the United States is the most productive country and the vast majority of the articles are written in English. The most cited author is Hyder, the journal that publishes the most is JOURNAL OF MEDICAL ETHICS, and the institution that most addresses the issue is the University of Toronto. Conclusions: The thematic mapping reveals an important evolution coming from the health sciences and an institutionalization of ethics is denoted with the appearance of the scientific ethics committee in the topics of most interest. Originality/Value: This study represents an important contribution to researchers' decision-making and, in turn, allows them to have a global and guiding perspective on ethics in research.
