This work examines the multimodal interpersonal meanings used for the expression of intersubjectivity in epew. From a critical and multimodal discourse perspective, the general aim is to understand how the intersubjective positionings that are included in both the written verbal and visual modes are manifested in these narratives. Based on the theoretical-methodolo-gical foundations of systemic functional linguistics, particularly the appraisal model (Martin and White, 2005; Oteíza, 2021; White, 2021), as well as the proposal for image analysis of social semiotics (Kress and van Leeuwen 2006/2021; Painter et al., 2013). The analysis included three epew in their Spanish version. These narratives deal with the relationship between human being and nature. The results show that the manifestation of intersubjectivity in both verbal and visual meanings, in the three stories analyzed, is related to the purposes of the genre stages. It is observed that both semiotic modes complement each other in the texts in order to promote values of respect and reciprocity between people and their environment.
