Basketball is an intermittent sport that requires strength, speed, agility, and both aerobic and anaerobic capacities. Factors such as height, body composition, and physiological profile are crucial for performance, allowing training to be adjusted according to the demands of the sport and the player’s position. Objective: To describe and compare the physical performance profile of youth basketball players, focusing on anaerobic power, jump power, and VO2max based on their position. Materials and Methods: Fifteen youth players were randomly selected from basketball clubs in Valdivia. Their average age was 16.47±1.19 years, weight 74.67±7.98 kg, height 175±6.24 cm, body fat percentage 25.05±2.46%, and muscle mass 41.79±3.49%. Tests included Vo2max, jumping ability (Bosco test), and anaerobic power (Wingate test). Results: Guards had a significantly higher Vo2max (54.23±6.32 ml/kg) compared to power forwards (48.15±7.22 ml/kg) and centers (49.68±8.09 ml/kg) (p=0.02). In jump power, forwards excelled with 46.10±4.50 cm, compared to guards (40.20±5.10 cm) and centers (38.70±5.80 cm) (p=0.03). In anaerobic power, forwards also led (9.10±1.10 W/kg) over guards (8.30±1.15 W/kg) and centers (7.95±1.25 W/kg) (p=0.01). Conclusions: Significant differences in physical performance were observed based on playing position. Guards excelled in aerobic capacity, while forwards stood out in jump power and anaerobic power, highlighting the need for position-specific training programs.
