The Loper Bright case, decided by the United States Supreme Court in June 2024, overturned the Chevron doctrine, delivering a blow to the Administrative State and capturing the attention of legal cultures worldwide. This article examines the impact of that decision from the perspective of the future of the Administrative State, reviewing the case’s normative background, including the development of regulatory agencies and the U.S. Administrative Procedure Act, and providing a detailed explanation of the Chevron doctrine and the rationale behind its reversal. Finally, it evaluates the implications of Loper Bright for the U.S. Administrative State model, concluding that while it represents a significant challenge, it does not signify its demise but rather reflects the political and constitutional fluctuations inherent to the U.S. legal system.
