Self-efficacy beliefs can impact the translation process; however, the effect of these beliefs on the quality of translations remains unclear. This study aims to determine the effect of self-efficacy beliefs on the quality of inverse translations done by translation students at Pontificia Universidad Cat & oacute;lica de Valparaiso. The Haro-Soler Translator Self-Efficacy Beliefs Scale (2018, 2022a) was applied along with a translation test that was graded based on a classification of translation errors. While statistical analysis indicates no significant relationship between the variables, the results reveal a slight tendency towards an inversely proportional relationship between participants' self-efficacy beliefs and the quality of their translations. This preliminary study introduces a variable not extensively explored in prior research: translation quality, and it contributes two specialized instruments to the field of translation.
