The story of clear communication (and clear language) in Latin America is inseparable from the creation of the clear language networks crisscrossing this part of the world. Given this, this paperseeks to review the main advances in clear communication at a Latin American level, with a special focus on the situation in Chile, Argentina, Peru, Uruguay and Colombia. This overview provides an account of the progress made with regard to different dimensions and contexts (academic, institutions, public, etc.). It features details of the products, suggestions, research and public policies that have arisen and whose common theme is improving the public administrations' communication with the general public. Lastly, it highlights how the value of the emerging right to comprehend is becoming increasingly important.
