The present article aims to analyze the process of stadium construction managed by the Chilean government in Arica and Santiago between 1962 and 1975. At the same time, it proposes an analysis of the same process of construction and remodeling of the stadiums in the case of Brazil in 1970. The article postulates that the political will behind these projects was the development of a project involved in sports infrastructure with popular purposes, in a context where professional football became a widespread sport in society. From a comparative perspective between Chile and Brazil, the document examinates sources from sports magazines like Estadio and Gol y Gol, the Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper, and Chilean government archives such as CORMU [Urban Improvement Corporation], MOP [Ministry of Public Works], and Junta de Adelanto de Arica [Arica Development Board].
