In the context of the discussion for a new constitution in Chile, this study explores the role of utopia in defining the national political horizon. The research focuses not on utopia as a macro narrative, but rather on the utopian practices that have maintained the constitutional continuum from 1980 onwards. A framework is established that includes the notions of space, future, imagination, and hope related to utopia, and it outlines a panorama that illustrates possible approaches to understanding the 2019 social uprising. The methodology covers the categorization of six types of utopian practices identified during the protests in plaza Baquedano, followed by a historical review that examines how these same practices have influenced the constitutional landscape since the 1980s. It delves into three main practices: marches, the creation of symbols, and dialogues, and to analyze them, methods of urban design, visual analysis, and linguistic analysis are used. The findings reveal a detailed synthesis of utopian practices, highlighting their purposes, actors, objectives, and characteristics. From these, the relevance of spatialization, visualization, and futurization is emphasized as tools for understanding and projecting utopian aspirations in the sociopolitical fabric of the country.
