Several countries in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) have proposed energy transition strategies that incorporate the production, use and export of hydrogen and derivatives (Power-to-X). These strategies aim to make use of the great renewable energy potential available in the region. This paper proposed an analysis framework able to represent the location of energy/hydrogen production, export zones, load center, and cooperation strategies among LAC countries. The resulting mix-integer quasi-static centralized planning model minimized the overall investment and operation costs of the region, considering the revenues from the Power-to-X export. The case study represents 121 zones, 27 LAC countries, four energy transport modes, and five energy carriers. Nine interconnection/export scenarios and associated sensitivities are studied for a planning horizon of 2050. The results show that LAC can take advantage of a coordinated development strategy compared to the independent development of Power-to-X at each country (cost savings). In Central and South America, interconnections enable a projected decrease of 44% and 29% in the average levelized cost of hydrogen by 2050 respectively. A regional cost decrease is notable, particularly impacting countries like Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Paraguay, the Guianas, and some countries of Central America, with production of hydrogen under $2 USD/kg. Furthermore, the development of electricity generation in countries such as Nicaragua, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Chile, and Argentina are observed, meeting the needs of Central America, Ecuador, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
