The commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the 1973 coup d'état in Chile was marked by the impact of the human rights violations perpetrated during the social revolt that began on October 18, 2019. This has led to consider as a failure the commitment to the “never again” and the guarantees of non-repetition. In this paper, we analyze memories of the recent past and the relationships established between the political violence, memories dictatorship and the political violence of the present. Specifically, memories of people who were high school students during the revolt and actively participated in it, considering that they have been relevant protagonists of recent history. Three qualitative interviews were conducted and subsequently analyzed from the perspective of critical discourse analysis. Main results were organized according to the connections of state violence towards the revolt with the past and with the continuities and specificities of political violence. This allows us to conclude that in the memories of these people a continuity of State political violence has been installed, although re-signified from their own activist experiences.
