Review of Antes de America: Fuentes originarias en la cultura moderna, an exhibition at the at Fundaci & oacute;n Juan March, Madrid, Spain, 6 October 2023-10 March 2024, curated by Manuel Font & aacute;n del Junco, Maria Toledo Guti & eacute;rrez, and Rodrigo Guti & eacute;rrez Vi & ntilde;uales. This exhibition explored the artistic and architectural connections between Spain and the Americas, focusing on the reinterpretation of the forms and meanings of ancient Indigenous cultures of the American continent from the late 18th century to the early 20th century. It also highlighted the fascination with 'the ancestral', a paradigm that has significantly influenced the aesthetics of both the recent past and the present.
