This article presents a first approach to the composition of the sonnet corpus in Diego Mex & iacute;a de Fernangil's La segunda parte del Parnaso ant & aacute;rtico after the Evangelicae historiae imagines (1593), one of the most valuable books published by the Old Society of Jesus. As we will see, Mex & iacute;a's work consists not only in the translation of the text in Nadal's prints, but it is also complemented by fragments from various parts of the Gospels and by moralizing and meditative digressions.
