The Herald Thorn Carychium minimum, a tiny terrestrial snail native to Europe, is documented for the first time in Chile. The species was discovered in 2012 in El Totoral, near the San Antonio port in the Valparaiso Region (Central Chile). The presence of both juvenile and adult individuals depicts this species as a naturalised exotic snail. Carychium minimum is the second species of the genus Carychium recorded in Chile, succeeding Carychium biondii.
