In recent years, climate change has sparked increasing interest and concern globally. The relationship between business costs and carbon footprint has become an essential topic, as organizations seek sustainable strategies that balance environmental responsibility with economic viability. In light of this context, with the aim of understanding what has been researched in the scientific literature regarding costs and carbon footprint, a bibliometric analysis was conducted using publications indexed in Web of Science (WoS) as the source of information. After searching and analyzing the results, 250 publications were identified. For data analysis, VOSviewer was employed. Among the main findings, it is observed that the relationship between business costs and carbon footprint is emerging with relevance in recent research, focusing on sustainability and green economy. There is a noticeable lack of specific accounting publications on the subject, prompting suggestions for future research lines that address the analysis of carbon footprint, which vary in their focus from human factors, organizations, technology, energy, and optimization models.
