This article provides a historiographical approach to the declassified U.S. documents related to Chile from 1968 to 1990. It explores how the declassification of these documents has been used both to reveal and to obscure crucial information, shaping the narrative of U.S. intervention in Chile during the Cold War. Through detailed analysis, the dynamics between declassified documentation and Chilean historical memory are discussed, highlighting the role these documents have played in the construction of Chile's contemporary history and in debates on responsibility and transitional justice. The article also proposes a methodology for interpreting these documents, considering both the information disclosed and the silences that persist in the redacted areas.
