One of my professors said once that one of his professors claimed to be "academically professional and professionally academic". A statement that, recognizing its independence, relates Academia and Profession without subordination. Two areas that frequently operate in parallel with autonomous criteria, governed by their doing and their becoming. In this duality, ideas that have made theory to advance are materially impossible and constructions that have made practice to develop remain exhausted in themselves. There are, however, situations that participate in both areas, such as the Architecture Competition: a meeting of solutions to a problem where, oftenly, theorized positions are submitted for its confirmation in the Profession and practiced solutions are postulated for its validation in the Academy. On this basis, this text summarizes the learnings from 7 years of architecture competitions for students as a theme of the Design Studio.
