Online disinhibition, or the experience of reducing restrictions when online, is a construct of great relevance to explain behavior; however, there are still no reliable and valid measures for its application in Chile. This study sought to adapt and validate the Measure of Online Disinhibition in a sample of Chilean university students. First, a linguistic adaptation of the instrument was performed, and then during 2023 a cross-sectional study was conducted. 578 students of both sexes participated in the study (66.3% men and 32.4% women), with a mean age of 20.57 years (SD = 2.54). The factor structure of the scale was evaluated based on exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses; the results confirmed the unidimensional theoretical structure. The general factor Online Disinhibition presented suitable levels of reliability, and the findings provide evidence for its use in Chilean university students. The results were discussed with the empirical evidence available.
