The following article addresses, through the analysis of press of national circulation and ecclesial journals, firstly, part of the process that led a specific sector of evangelical churches to support the dictatorship in Chile starting in 1973. Secondly, the search for political recognition by the pastors of these churches and, finally, the role they developed around the political processes that gave rise to the 1980 Constitution and the attempts to participate in its drafting, thus concluding the existence and legitimacy of the political actions of religiously inspired agents during that period.
