The development of historical and social thinking in Chile is experiencing important challenges due to national and global problems (internal sociopolitical crisis, impact of the COVID pandemic on schooleducation). Theseproblems open the possibility for educationalcommunities to think collectively about their past, present and future, making the territory a central element for the construction of their future. This new scenario poses interesting challenges at an educational level for the subject of History and Social Sciences, which becomes an ideal instance to problematize, answer questions and position oneself on the local and national environment, from a temporal perspective. This communication summarizes the development of the project “Learning about our recent History from the territory”, which aimed to integrate Local History in the learning of History and Social Sciences in public schools in popular sectors of Santiago de Chile (2021 - 2022) and analyzes its results from a teaching perspective.
