Objective: To present the experience in transit reconstitution using the retroileal transmesenteric colorectal anastomosis technique. Materials and Methods: Retrospective, descriptive and narrative review of cases in which transit reconstitution with retroileal transmesenteric colorectal anastomosis was performed. Results: After extended left colectomies, transit reconstitution was performed in 3 cases through retroileal transmesenteric colorectal anastomosis. Two cases as transit reconstitution with open technique and one as intraoperative decision in laparoscopic resective surgery. No case presented complications related to the anastomosis. Discussion: This type of reconstitution proved to be a useful and easy tool to perform after left colectomy to achieve a tension-free anastomosis or avoid the need to complete a total colectomy.
