Introduction: Facial synkinesis are one of the chronic consequences of facial paralysis with significant functional, psychological, and social limitations. They are defined as involuntary movements accom-panying voluntary movements in another muscle group. Despite the existence of various treatments for facial synkinesis, evaluating their outcomes is challenging due to the limited universality of grading scales for synkinesis assessment. The Synkinesis Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) has proven to be a simple, reliable, and valid tool for self-reported synkinesis severity. Objective: To perform linguistic and cross-cultural validation of the SAQ into Chilean Spanish, making it applicable to the Chilean population. Materials and Methods: Using the Guillemin methodology, the instrument was translated into Spanish by certified independent translators and then adapted to our population. It was subsequently back-translated into English to determine its concordance with the original questionnaire. The translated and adapted instrument was utilized with a sample of 10 patients to assess comprehension difficulty and applicability. Results: All participants understood the instrument and responded to the questionnaire without language difficulties. There were no major suggestions regarding the adaptation. Conclusion: A Chilean Spanish-adapted translation of the SAQ scale to evaluate facial synkinesis in patients with facial paralysis was obtained, making it applicable to Chilean patients.
