Background and objectives: clinical mentoring is crucial in the development of health career professionals during their clinical internships and involves key elements for their correct development.The objective of this research was to determine the essential elements of clinical tutoring in 5th year Physiotherapy students during their clinical internship.Material and method: a survey-type instrument was created and validated with experts that was applied to 32 clinical tutors of professional practice of the physiotherapy career.Results: 93.7 % of the tutors believe that it is relevant to maintain a good interpersonal relationship between the clinical tutor and the student(s).Conclusion: an approach that promotes more balanced mentoring in different areas of work with clinical internship students is recommended, which could improve the students' learning experience and the effectiveness of the mentoring process in general.
